INSTALLATION
This section explains how to install and configure ASN1VE in a Windows Operating System.
- Download the ASN1VE package distribution file.
- ASN1VE for Windows is packaged in a self-extracting executable file format. To install, double-click executable ASN1VE file after downloading and follow the setup wizard instructions.
- The free edition of ASN1VE is now ready. To use the Pro version options, a license file must be installed. The license is located in the osyslic.txt file that was attached to the E-mail message that was sent at the time the product was downloaded. If you did not receive a license file, please contact us at support@obj-sys.com.
- The osyslic.txt file must be copied to a location where the ASN1VE application can find it. This can be done in one of three ways:
- The file can be copied into <ASN1VE installation directory>/bin directory, or
- The file can be copied into any of the directories specified within your PATH environment variable, or
- The file can be copied to a different directory and an environment variable named OSLICDIR created to point at this directory location.
- ASN1VE application should now be operational and available from both the desktop and from a start menu (by default, this would be the ASN1C group).
Contents of the release
This section provides subdirectories and information that contain the following files (note: <installdir> refers to the installation directory that was specified during the installation process):
<installdir>\bin\asn1ve.exe
The main ASN1VE executable file. This program is invoked to run the ASN1VE graphic interface.
<installdir>\bin\Qt*.dll
This runtime library files required for the ASN1VE graphic interface. ASN1VE uses Nokia Qt software which is a cross-platform GUI library.
<installdir>\bin\asn1ve.qhc
This file contains the compiled help documentation files.
<installdir>\asn1specs
This directory contains a number of common ASN.1 specifications that can be used with the tool.
<installdir>\sample
This directory contains sample programs containing encoded BER/DER message files (these files have a '.dat' or '.bin' extension) and corresponding ASN.1 schema files (these have extension '.asn'). ASN1VE can be used to view/edit these files by opening a message file (File/Open) and then assigning the schema (ASN.1/Assign ASN.1).
<installdir>\sample_per
This directory contains sample programs containing encoded PER message files. A project file (avprj) should be available in each directory for loading the file. This contains information on the ASN.1 schema used and the PDU type.
